Bulbe fluide is made from a single sheet of paper folded in a regular, systematic pattern. The thinness of the paper used (90 grams) creates variations from one fold to the next, making each plane of the repeated surface unique. Water overflows through 18 spouts and flows to the sculpture’s stainless steel base by capillary action, despite the overhang. In this way, the column shimmers and vibrates under the passage of water, revealing the rich variations at work on the bronze skin.
